GLOWS volunteers will be manning the cooling station at the Salvation Army this summer. Right now, when the heat index reaches 100, we will open the station from 2 to 5. We hope to be able to open longer hours as we go along, but to do so, we need volunteers to help by being there. There is wi fi so you can work while you just be there so we can be open! If you can help, please contact Cindy Hogan at cindyhogan1@gmail.com.

Please tell our friends on the street to call 972-495-6476 each morning to know if we will be open that afternoon.

The cooling station will be at the Salvation Army, 451 W. Avenue D, Garland.

Please consider dropping off water, electrolyte packs, cooling towels, snacks, bug spray/wipes, sunscreen and travel sized toothpaste/toothbrushes. These items can also be sent to Debbie Rima, 5002 Roundtable Ln., Garland 75044 or Cindy Hogan, 3706 Oakridge Cr., Garland 75040. Please go to glowsshelter.com for a link to our PayPal account if you wish to make a donation.

It takes a community!! Thanks for being that community!

We should commit to living our lives in such a way that a watching world would catch a glimpse of God's character - His love, justice, and mercy - through our words, actions, and behavior.

I WANT TO KNOW WHAT'S GOING

ON/I WANT TO VOLUNTEER

GLOWS Community Lighthouse ("GLOWS") is a coalition of agencies, churches, organizations and individuals working to provide meals, job training, assistance with housing, and other resources to our unhoused and disadvantaged friends. This includes safe, temporary overnight shelter to our unhoused friends during inclement weather in the winter time and hot meals twice a week. We also support the Salvation Army when their cooling station opens during extremely hot days.

Throughout the year, GLOWS partners with other organizations to provide ongoing services to assist our unhoused and disadvantaged friends.

We sponsor Connect the Dots Roundtable meetings monthly to meet with leaders of various organizations who also help those less fortunate. The purpose of these meetings is to identify what resources are out there, add them to our ongoing resource list to provide to others who might need this information, discuss any problems or needs for assistance an organization might have, look for ways to help support each other, look for holes in assistance and organizations to take on filling those holes, and look for ways as a community to move forward in making a difference in poverty and homelessness.

GLOWS is a 501(c)(3) entity. 100% of your donation goes to assisting those in need. We have no paid employees; instead, we are fully volunteer run. Please help if you can!
