GLOWS partners with the Salvation Army Garland to provide weekly meals, a summer cooling station, an overnight winter warming station, and connections to housing, jobs, and other resources. Everyone is welcome.

Cooling Station (Summer)
Relief from dangerous heat
When it opens
The Salvation Army Garland opens as a cooling station, Monday through Friday from 1:00–5:00 p.m., on days when the temperature or heat index reaches 100°F.
Location: 451 W Avenue D, Garland, TX 75040. Guests are welcome to come inside, stay cool, and enjoy water and snacks.
Overnight Warming Station (Winter)
A safe, warm place during dangerous cold
When it opens
We open the overnight shelter when the wind chill forecast is 32°F or less with a standing 20% chance of precipitation, or a standing wind chill of 28°F or less with no precipitation. We watch the National Weather Service forecast, which is often different from the local forecast.

Cots, blankets, boxed and bagged meals, snacks, and friendly faces.

Beyond meals and shelter, we try to provide information on housing, jobs, medical assistance, and other resources our friends need to improve their situations.
